What is the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District?

    The Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District is a legal entity distinct from the County of Los Angeles, but is governed by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. The Regional Park and Open Space District was created to administer Proposition A funded projects.

What are the types of projects that the Regional Park and Open Space District administers?

    The Regional Park and Open Space District administers the acquisition, restoration or rehabilitation of real property for parks and park safety, senior recreation facilities, gang prevention, beaches, recreation, community or cultural facilities, trails, wildlife habitats, or natural lands, and maintenance and servicing of those projects.

How are these projects funded?

    Two Propositions allocated $859 million for capital outlay projects. The Propositions provided a total of $800 million to the 88 incorporated cities within Los Angeles County, to the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation, to the County of Los Angeles Department of Beaches and Harbors, to the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, and to other local and State agencies. An additional $59 million was available on a competitive basis to qualified non-profit and public agencies.
